TYPES OF ELECTRIC POWER

battery electric vehicle

BATTERY ELECTRIC VEHICLE (BEV)

  • No combustion engine
  • Electric drive only
  • Charged by external source with additional inputs from regenerative braking
PLUG IN ELECTRIC VEHICLE

PLUG-IN HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE (PHEV)

  • Combines combustion engine and electric motor
  • Can be charged by external source with additional inputs from regenerative braking
mild hybrid electric vehicle

MILD HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE (MHEV)

  • Combines a combustion engine with a 48V battery
  • Next generation Stop/Start technology, harvesting energy that can later be reused
  • Cannot run on electric power alone and cannot be charged externally

BENEFITS OF GOING ELECTRIC

Low cost of ownership

Low cost of ownership

Electricity costs less per mile than petrol or diesel. You’ll get significant tax incentives too. And with no charges relating to congestion, emissions or parking in many cities, the benefits keep adding up.

easy and convenient

EASY AND CONVENIENT

With the majority of electric car charging done from home, you can more efficiently plan your time around the things you want to do. Simply recharge on an evening, and by morning you’ll be ready to go.

zero emissions

ZERO TAILPIPE EMISSIONS

Vehicles powered solely by a battery are able to achieve maximum power with zero tailpipe emissions. And with more renewable resources added to the National Grid all the time, electric car energy gets cleaner every year.

distinctive drive

A DISTINCTIVE DRIVE

Electric technology is not only incredibly quiet, it's able to deliver instant acceleration with no lag and no gearshift interruptions. This means a distinctively smooth and responsive driving experience at all speeds.

KEEP EXPLORING ELECTRIC

how far can i go

HOW FAR CAN I GO?

In an all-electric car or when you’re using your full Electric Vehicle (EV) mode in a PHEV, your battery is the single source of energy for everything. As a result, your driving style, the features you use in your cabin, and even the conditions you drive in will influence your overall range.

The battery in a Jaguar PHEV is able to deliver up to 34 miles (Jaguar E‑PACE*) and up to 33 miles (Jaguar F‑PACE*) of range from a single charge. This makes it perfect for daily commutes and driving around town with zero tailpipe emissions when in Full Electric Vehicle (EV) mode.

The Plug-In Hybrid Range Rover Velar ‘P400e’ offers customers impressive all-electric range of 33 miles (53km)** and CO2 emissions of 49g/km** for more efficient journeys, with 48-volt mild hybrids.

Low cost of ownership

LOW COST OF OWNERSHIP

Driving towards a cleaner, sustainable future not only helps to protect our planet, it can be kinder on your pockets too.

The cost of electricity is lower per mile than petrol or diesel, making PHEVs cheaper to run on a daily basis when driving in full Electric Vehicle (EV) mode. All-electric cars will save you even more money - on average you could save £1320 a year driving all-electric compared to a petrol or diesel car driving 10,000 miles*.

As all-electric powertrains have fewer moving parts than a petrol or diesel engine, and regenerative braking capabilities are relatively gentler on brakes and tyres, servicing costs are lower.

home charging

HOME CHARGING

Charging your all-electric or PHEV at home is the most convenient way to start your day with a full charge.

A home charger will charge an all-electric car overnight and deliver up to 22 miles^ of range from 60 minutes using a 7kW supply.

Charging at home is not only convenient, the cost of electricity is less per mile compared to petrol and diesel. And you can reduce this further with an off-peak electricity tariff.

public charging

PUBLIC CHARGING

Plugging in at home remains the most effortless way to fully charge your all-electric and Plug-in Hybrid car every day. But with over 20,000 public charging points now in the UK – from remote farm shops to motorway services – it’s easier than ever to charge on the go.

All-electric and Plug-in Hybrid cars are compatible with two types of public charging points. AC charging points are located at destination charging stations such as retail parks, gyms and car parks. And rapid DC charging points are located on motorways and public roads.
