Role Overview
The Workshop Controller will oversee the daily running of a 14 bay / 12-technician workshop, ensuring technicians remain productive, work is completed to high standards, and customers receive timely updates. The role requires excellent organisation, communication, and leadership.
Ideal Candidate Profile

Prior experience as a Workshop Controller, Senior Technician, Workshop Supervisor, or Aftersales professional.

Strong understanding of workshop scheduling, job allocation, and efficiency management.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Strong organisational ability and a methodical approach.

Confident in leading and motivating workshop staff.

Able to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain high standards.
Key Responsibilities & Accountability

Ensure all chargeable materials and labours are recorded on job cards, thus enabling accurate invoicing and job costing.

In conjunction with the Service Advisors confirm an efficient workshop loading system is operated, detailing the technician allocated the task, complete information on the work required, any upsell or additional interventions, current concerns that may affect the job and time of completion..

Ensure all job cards have a complete report of all service and repair interventions.

Approach tasks in a consistent, efficient and structured manner.

Be fully conversant with all manufacturers’ technical literature and information bulletins, ensuring this information is passed out (or easily accessible) and understood by all the technicians.

Identify all training and coaching requirements to develop all the technicians in the Workshop.

Ensure that there is adequate staff cover to meet the dealerships opening hours.

Hold and attend regular meetings to ensure that any workshop team concerns or ideas are recorded and reported back to the relevant persons.

Manage workshop access and security of tools, equipment, and consumables.
